Trip Specifics

Monday, August 13

  • Meet participants at Fairmount Park.

  • Program orientation, meet staff and other participants.

  • Camping Skills 101 (tent setup, outdoor cooking, packing preparation),  team-building activities, and swimming (just for fun!)

Tuesday, August 14

  • Meet participants at Fairmount Park.

  • Travel (charter bus with Le Bus) to Big Cottonwood Canyon/Guardsman Pass for Challenge by Choice hiking: Silver Lake, Bloods Lake, or Lake Mary, Martha, and Catherine.

  • Upon returning to SLC, finalize preparation for camping trip.


Wednesday, August 15

  • Travel (charter bus with Le Bus) to Washington Lake Campground, a campsite in Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (approximately 25 miles east of Kamas on Hwy 150).

  • Participants and staff set up camp in developed campsite, prepare dinner using propane camp stove, start a campfire in designated fire pit, play games and activities in campsite.

  • Sleep in tents with staff members in adjacent tents.


Thursday, August 16

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner using propane camp stove.

  • Day hikes and activities in and around campsite, including water exploration in adjacent Washington Lake. Participants will not be able to swim, but will be allowed to wade and walk in water beneath knees.


Friday, August 17

  • Prepare breakfast using propane camp stove. Pack lunch.

  • Pack up all supplies, gear, and personal items in preparation for return to SLC.

  • Travel (charter bus with Le Bus) to Fairmount Park in Salt Lake City by 4:00 pm.
